You would think that after 14 years together I would know exacly what to say.
That a decade of engagement would be ample time to prepare.
But how do you capture 14 years in a few short sentences? How do you pin down feelings with nothing but words?
I think one of the reasons we fail to describe love is because it is not one thing. Not one feeling.
Sometimes love is bright and young. Sometimes love is simple and sweet.
Sometimes love is comfortable and well worn.
One of the great things about such a long relationship is that you get to fall in love more than once.
When you are holding hands and it flickers to life, quiet and new.
And then again, as you look into their eyes and it bubbles up to the surface.
And again, years later, curled up under a blanket and you realise there is nowhere better to be.
Then again. And again. And again.
Until it is the day of your wedding and you are saying your vows.
And you do it again.
With love, Josh and Jess Grey
